The Central Library organized a series of User Awareness Programs from February 18 to February 20, 2025. These training sessions were designed for faculty members, researchers, and Ph.D., PG, and UG students of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) celebrated National Librarian’s Day on August 12, 2023, in a hybrid format, honoring the contributions of Padma Shri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The event began with tributes to Dr. Ranganathan and a welcome address by Dr. K.S. Ali, who highlighted the library’s growth and announced admissions for M.Lib.I.Sc and Ph.D. programs. Presided over by Dr. Aswini Dutt R. and graced by Dr. Sharath B., the program emphasized the evolving role of libraries in the digital age. A highlight was the guest lecture by Dr. M. Sadik Batcha, who discussed the opportunities and challenges librarians face in higher education and their pivotal role in research. The event also recognized outstanding library users with Best User Awards and concluded with an interactive Q&A session, engaging 193 (33 offline + 160 online) participants from over 90 institutions across India.

Librarian’s Day was observed on 20th August, 2020 at the Department of Library and Information Science and Central Library, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972) who is considered as the Father of Library Science in India and spearheaded the development of Library science in India and dedicated his entire life for the growth of the profession. The program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, Floral tributes were offered to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. Dr. Mamatha Pramod, Chief Librarian & Assistant Professor welcomed the gathering. Dr. Khaisar Munebulla Khan, Professor, Department of Library and Information Science spoke about the rich legacy and contribution of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. Dr. Gangadhara Somayaji K. S. Registrar, Yenepoya (deemed to be University) presided over the program. Dr. Ismail Professor & Head, Department of Statistics, Yenepoya (deemed to be University) was guest at the program. Dr. K. S. Ali, Dy Librarian & Assistant Professor proposed the Vote of thanks. Library staff of the University participated in the program.
Librarian’s Day Celebrated on 20th August, 2020 at the Department of Library and Information Science and Central Library.
The library organizes workshops and conference for library professionals to help them upgrade their knowledge and skills. During the year, the library organized the Eleventh Annual conference of Karnataka Health Sciences Library Association on 22nd & 23rd February 2019, at the Indoor Auditorium, Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) at Mangalore. The Theme of the Conference was ‘Biomedical and Clinical Research Support System’. Around one hundred and fifty Library Science health professionals from Health Science Institutions in Karnataka attended the meet. The Conference was inaugurated on 22nd February by Dr. S. Sacchidanand, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. Prof (Dr.) C. V. Raghuveer, Pro Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural program. Dr. M. Vijayakumar, Vice Chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and Organising Chairperson, KHSLA 2019 presided over the inaugural function. Dr. K.S. Gangadhar Somayaji, Registrar, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was the Convenor of KHSLA 2019. Dr. Mamatha Pramod Kumar, Chief Librarian, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was the Organizing Secretary, KHSLA 2019. The Keynote address was delivered by Dr. H.S. Siddamallaiah, Principal Library and Information Officer (Rtd.) NIMHANS, Bangalore on ‘Tools, Technology and Universe of Content in domain specific interaction of Knowledge’. There were invited talks by eminent Health Science and Library professionals. Dr Madhavi Bhargava, Assistant professor, Department of Community Medicine, Yenepoya Medical College spoke on ‘PICO and MeSH Terms:Key to successful Systematic Reviews’. Dr Harsha Hallalli, Professor , Department of Physiology, K. S. Hegde Medical College, NITTE (Deemed to be University), Mangalore spoke on ‘Curating Multimedia for Today’s Learners’ and Dr. Medha Joshi, Former Head, Library Science Department and Consultant (Information Services), National Cancer Grid, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai spoke on ‘ Clinical Research Ethics and Librarian’s Role. There was a panel discussion with doctors and librarians interacting to understand the various digital tools and research databases used by the faculty and students. Around twenty-nine scientific papers were presented during the conference and eight publishers made Product Presentations. There were awards for Best paper and Best participant at the meet. Retired Library professionals, Organising Secretary of the previous (KHSLA 2018) conference and major sponsors were felicitated at the meet. The Conference concluded on 23rd February with the Valedictory program.
